Where Bayesian Reasoning meets Bedside Ultrasound.

The Ultrasound Lab was founded by Sharad Patel, MD, a physician board-certified across five disciplines, spanning critical care and nephrology, with advanced training in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography (TTE and TEE). Over the past decade, Dr. Patel has helped build one of the most advanced critical care ultrasound training programs in the country at Cooper University. The Lab’s mission is to expand point-of-care ultrasound into fields that have traditionally underutilized it, including hospital medicine and nephrology. Our teaching emphasizes physiologic understanding over rote image interpretation, integrating Bayesian reasoning into bedside scanning so clinicians learn not just what they are seeing, but what it means for real clinical decisions.
